Seeing Double

by Matthew Malkowski

“With concentrations graphite and other 2D media, my work investigates themes rooted in identity, mental states, and complex relationships with the external world. Often surreal in nature, much of my work tends to merge architectural elements, portraiture, and landscape together to examine how the natural and built environment influence perception, cognition, and everyday experience. Through detailed textures and a strong emphasis on realism, I create dream-like compositions that remain grounded in reality. Ultimately, my creative practice is driven by a desire to spark dialogue, challenge perspectives, and create engaging spaces where viewers can reflect on their own relationships with the world around them.”
