The Bleeding Sea

“When we think about the climate and environmental crisis, we often focus on the land and the trees, when about 70% of Earth is covered by water: mostly the oceans and the seas, with much nature and life happening in this ecosystem. This water-based mixed media painting on a canvas found on the curb is reminiscent of a sea topography and its biodiversity affected by plastic pollution, high temperatures and by the overall ecosystem degradation, where red and black symbolize “contamination”, affecting the otherwise blue, healthy water and sea life. About me: I am an academically-trained scientist turned artist, curator and activist on a quest to inspire urgent action for the environmental crisis, continuously seeking more environmentally sustainable art practices. I am also a creator of community as Founder of the i3C (inspiring Change for the Climate Crisis) Artists Collective.”
