Stone Gravity

by Aleksandra Chernaia

“My work grows out of sensitivity to inner states, nature, and quiet emotional movement. I often work through intuition — allowing forms, textures, and flowing materials to appear gradually, as if they reveal themselves. Abstraction helps me express what cannot be spoken directly: tension, stillness, vulnerability, strength, and transformation. In my practice, I explore how solid and fluid elements coexist — stone, metal, water, light, and cosmic space. I am interested in the balance between gravity and movement, between heaviness and openness, between what is stable and what is changing. Many of my works reflect an inner dialogue between the physical world and the emotional one. Painting for me is a way to listen inward and translate those sensations into visual language. Each piece becomes a moment of inner resonance — a trace of experience, movement, or memory that continues to live in quiet form.”
