Silent Night Poem

by Su Guanxi

“My work, Silent Night Poem, is a contemplation on the profound stillness found in the high-altitude solitude of Nagqu, Tibet. In this sacred landscape, I sought a dialogue between the eternal presence of the snow-capped mountains and the unrelenting cosmic dance above. The title, directly referencing Li Bai’s classic Chinese verse, grounds my personal journey under the night sky into a broader meditation on introspection and memory. Choosing a vintage Hasselblad 500-series film camera was a deliberate act to slow down the creative process, prioritizing patience and a physical connection to the craft. The resulting star trails are not just visual artifacts of time passing, but a testament to a deep, time-forged communion with the universe. Having been honored with multiple international awards and exhibitions, my practice is an enduring commitment to revealing the intricate beauty of the natural world. This photograph is my quiet, yet powerful, tribute to that unyielding spirit.”
