“The human figure is the foundation and fixation of my practice. Working primarily in graphite, I carefully construct figures through crosshatching and shading. I am interested in how the figure acts as evidence of one's experiences and how, through careful artistic construction, they can reflect ephemerality and emotional, physical, and personal struggle, while remaining atemporal. I aim to have my figures stylistically reflect academic traditions while engaging in and being contextualized by contemporary political and social challenges, ultimately resituating the nude figure in the artistic zeitgeist. Alongside my work in graphite, I enjoy working with oil paint and documentary and portrait photography.”
