POP: Lucifer

by Steven Labadessa

“Pop: Lucifer is part of an ongoing body of work titled POP, in which fragments of contemporary visual language are translated through the slower processes of drawing and painting. These references are less quotations than images that persist through repetition and familiarity. The painting is resolved through a contemporary palette drawn from the visual language of popular culture, while the structure of the image echoes older symbolic systems. These elements sit together without fully resolving. The work remains suspended between icon and graphic sign, where familiar forms continue to circulate but no longer stabilize meaning.”
