Italy
by Revan Karaca
“The painting ‘Italy’ belongs to my series ‘Politics’, which depicts politicians fighting in their parliaments across different countries. I use oil on canvas to create a romantic contrast to scenes of legislative violence. I was drawn to these images because they show elected officials, whose role is to debate, becoming so frustrated that their voices are no longer enough and conflict turns physical. The work reflects the fragility of our democracies and the violence, fear, and frustration that shape political life today. As a political artist, my work focuses on the human experience within the power systems of our time.”
