Hybridscape

by Aimee Hertog

“The Architecture of Contrast My practice, rooted in an MFA in digital photography and sculpture (2011), investigates the contemporary American psyche through a rigorous study of tonal architecture. For Shadows and Light, I present hybrid compositions that treat illumination and obscurity as a disciplined visual language. In works like Hybridscape, I orchestrate depth by layering tactile paintings over the precision of digital photography. Here, "light" represents the physical structure of our environment, while "shadow" functions as a conceptual inquiry into 21st-century stress. By merging these media, I create a quiet tension where brightness and darkness coexist in a measured, atmospheric balance.”
