“We, Homo sapiens sapiens convey myth throughout history. The Mahabharata, the Bible, the Oedipus cycle are examples of our collective memory. The main focus for our species is to seek or acquire material wealth, power, and sexual conquest. We humans are not unique in this matter as all living things strive to acquire nutrients, mate and not lose their lives. My art explores these desires through life and mythology from the perspective an observer, an outsider, a ‘fly’ on the wall, a doctor who is Autistic. I begin with a memory, an idea, an observation, a sequence of events: the stimulus that generates affects.The key, is the recognition and documenting it. However, this initial idea will be changed, torn apart, constructed and reconfigured, with the assitance of my worldview. Given this, my reative process is a bit of a mystery to me. I am Autistic, and a trained physician whose viewpoint is a concrete, hard scientist. But, I am able to see what others do not by giving a voice to the marginalized who are ignored. I work with acrylic, oil paint on canvas and silverpoint. For me, the true art is the emotion felt by the viewer of the work, and not the painted canvass; transference and counter-transference. This mirroring effect makes the work alive.”
