Cafouillage

by Isa Obradovich

Isabella “Isa” Stéphanie Obradovich (b. 2004) is an artist, educator, activist, and content creator from McLean, Virginia, and is currently a senior studying both Art Education and Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) at Miami University. Her work employs a variety of media, colors, and textures, emphasizing the interactions between these layered elements as an allegory for the intersections within her identity as a first-generation, disabled, and queer Latina in the United States. Though "Cafouillage" is not a self portrait, Obradovich often utilizes self-portraiture as subject matter, incorporating her ever-changing self (and perception of self within the world around her) as a motif in her work. Her art serves as a testament to her perseverance and passion for self-expression despite the predetermined circumstances she continues to work within.
