Bogart Place

by Ally Latham

“‘A City in Renewal’ is a photographic series exploring transformation through the lens of place. Centered on Scranton, Pennsylvania, the work captures a city stepping into its second act, where historic architecture grounds the streets. As both a photographer and architectural designer, I approach each image with a sensitivity to space, proportion, and light. My process is observational and intentional, documenting moments where historic structures are adapted for new purposes beyond their original use. I focus on this dialogue between permanence and change: how the architecture holds the memory of the past while supporting new life. This series considers renewal not as replacement, but as layering. Scranton’s history is not erased; it is carried forward and reinterpreted. The images invite viewers to see familiar urban fabric as living and adaptable and an active participant in the city’s becoming.”
