Amanda Colon is an experimental and documentary photographer based in the Chicagoland area. Her practice incorporates traditional and alternative processes, such as cyanotypes and analog photography. Her work seeks to push the boundaries of photography by experimenting with subject matter as well as the print medium itself. In one of her ongoing series, "Animalia Exotica," she digitally manipulates and collages images of animals and plants. Each image is carefully comprised of several different photographs that are pieced together before being printed as cyanotypes onto recycled tea bags. The result is a body of work that borders on humorous and absurd.
