Stairs to Nowhere

by Daniel Cosentino

“I search for purpose in making, exploring latent communications and the tension between intended messages and hidden symbols. Rooted in personal experiences—loss, memory, and environment—my work spans various mediums, with photographic discourses central to my practice. Integrating traditional and contemporary techniques, I investigate the evolving nature of image-making and meaning. Through my process, I uncover double meanings—where the obvious and the profound, the banal and the exalted, coexist. Simple things become complex, and complex things become simple, depending on perspective. My focus shifts over time, from aesthetic qualities to the medium’s relationship with ideas. My inquiry explores identity through video, performance, and sculpture, drawing on Minimalism and Romanticism. The line between art and life is where boundaries blur, challenging interpretation. Meaning emerges in the tension between artist intent and observer perception.”
