“I am an eclectic artist who derives inspiration from everywhere, but mostly through nature. The power of a sunset is timeless. Sunsets are nature's way of anchoring one in the present moment, and every so often I feel compelled to convey the resulting sense of awe by texturizing the canvas. Brief impasto techniques and expressive gestures aim to emphasize the sky and its myriad, irreproducible forms. I approach art from an expressive perspective, prioritizing authentic style over strictly realistic representation. My digital compositions expand on this naive attitude by incorporating bold color and collage-like textures in the work. In a more abstract sense, I derive inspiration from East Asian art and philosophy, both which inform the work in some type of way.”
