Long Walk

by David Enriquez

“My creative process is deeply personal, serving as a form of therapy, where I reflect on ideas, emotions, and memories. I aim to translate these reflections into tangible artworks. In a way, my paintings and sculptures articulate what I often find challenging to verbalize. My work is influenced by art history, particularly 16th-17th century portraiture and religious art created in Europe and its colonized territories; like the works of Peter Paul Rubens, whose influence reached the Spanish colonies. I reimagine and reinterpret imagery and symbols to infuse my pieces with new narratives and meanings. By engaging in a dialogue with the past, I am able to create visual commentaries on contemporary issues.”
