“Classically trained in Barcelona, Spain at the Barcelona Academy of art and schooled at the University of Houston, I have been blessed to have many great teachers in my life. My first teacher, Nancy Hines, taught me classical figurative art techniques when I was 14. I have become enamored with the style ever since. I grew up the daughter of an immigrant father and Mexican mother in Chicago and Houston. My exposure to latine cultures is reflected in my art. I had several interests at the University of Houston majoring in English and Spanish while minoring in political philosophy. Ever curious, I plan to return to Barcelona to complete my figurative artistic training and get an MFA at the University of Houston in painting. I specialize in mediums such as charcoal, oil paint, and acrylic paint. My influences range from classical artists such as Bouguereau and Velasquez, to more contemporary artist such as Siqueiros and Kahlo.”
