Her Life’s Painting
by Regina Combs
“As a Black folk artist, I try to capture everyday life using acrylic and watercolor. My journey began in 2017, and following my retirement from a military and professional career, I am now a full-time artist. My growth as an artist is fueled by a dedication to learning, collaborating with professional artists, and continually evolving my style to reflect modern sensibilities while staying true to my roots. Born in the US North and raised in the South, my art draws inspiration from sunsets and tranquil beaches of my childhood, while also reflecting the vibrant energy, and towering skylines of Northern cities. Grounded in a rich heritage and a profound reverence for the divine, my art explores themes of encouragement, spirituality, and Christian faith, conveying the presence of God in the world around us. These influences infuse my work with a dynamic sense of place and memory, inviting viewers to appreciate the beauty and significance of both natural, spiritual and urban scenes.”
