Cleveland; Tiptoe

“In my art, in broad terms, I am interested in nature, culture and humanity. I explore their connections to one another. It translates into images of mostly water, some wood (as key environmental resources); into man-made objects, patterns, languages of some cultures and the human condition which is expressed mostly through body language. The metaphors of body language can be interpreted literally also. All of these interests confront a variety of identities we carry, and not necessarily just cultural ones. My own struggle with a double cultural identity propelled me to put it in a broader context and explore the nature of identity and the individual’s relationship to it in the era of globalization. I expressly tie together contemporary issues with individual and attempt to entangle their ambiguous relationship. We as cultures and individuals have a role in shaping our cultures, others’ cultures and our natural environment.”
