Alienation; Blurred Reality
by Saskia Le Peissker
“Motherhood is often portrayed as fulfilling and joyful - but what if the experience looks different? Between Us explores the unspoken complexities of early motherhood: the quiet isolation, heavy expectations, and emotions that remain hidden beneath the surface. Photographed from my baby’s perspective, this series captures a reality rarely acknowledged. In a society that romanticizes motherhood, Between Us confronts the coexistence of connection and disconnection, love and loneliness, presence and absence. Creating these images became a form of release, enabling me to face emotions rarely voiced, and to see myself as a mother, through my child's eyes - a perspective I struggled to find within.”
