Claire Lynch

Claire R. Lynch (b. Arlington, Virginia) is a sculptor whose practice explores tension, fragility, and resilience through violently transformed yet delicately finished materials. She began her sculpture practice at Stanford University, where she received her BA in Art Practice in 2014 and was awarded the Louis Sudler Prize for Performing and Creative Arts.

From 2014–2017, Lynch was based in San Francisco, completing residencies at Recology and Root Division, and was awarded the Blau-Gold Fellowship.

In 2017, she entered the Rinehart School of Sculpture MFA program at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA). There, she received numerous awards, including the Perna Krick ‘31 and Reuben Kramer ‘32 Fellowship, the Amalie Rothschild ‘34 Fellowship, the Sidney Lake Award, an Outstanding Student Achievement Nomination, and the Graduate Merit Scholarship. She earned her MFA in 2019.

In 2024, Lynch became a studio artist at the Workhouse Arts Center in Virginia, where she continues to develop her sculptural practice.
