Threshold of the Quiet Structure
by Banu Sulistyo Utomo
‘Threshold of the Quiet Structure’ is a photographic abstraction built from a single architectural fragment, mirrored and stripped down to its essential tension. The work occupies a space between clarity and disorientation — a moment where form becomes both recognizable and alien. The piece reflects my ongoing interest in structures that exist at the edge of perception, where light carves out the boundaries of silence and darkness becomes a stabilizing force. By compressing the complexity of the urban environment into a disciplined geometry, the image becomes a threshold: a place where the viewer confronts stillness, density, and the subtle psychological weight embedded in the built world.
