The Embrace

“My works are part of my painting series named “Love is Greater,” which tells the story of two interracial lovers who love each other despite coming from different ethnic backgrounds. The lovers approach each other from a space of love and belief that their love is greater than their differences. Their story embodies the ideal of love as a force that transcends ethnic or cultural prejudice. Through this series, I aim to portray true love as being far more beautiful than any ethnic or cultural prejudice that can divide lovers. The figures in the paintings are often nestled in close domestic spaces, surrounded by layered textiles, patterned motifs and natural elements. I have depicted the lovers with different skin tones to emphasize their diverse ethnic backgrounds. The thick, visible, and bold brushstrokes of paint illustrate their loving gestures toward each other.”
