Body Positivity; Mosh Pit

by Fernando Carpaneda

“My work explores the intersection of identity, marginality, and resistance through portraiture and figurative representation. Rooted in queer and punk subcultures, it documents lives and bodies that exist outside mainstream narratives. Using acrylic on canvas, my process begins with live modeling, drawing, and photography, fostering intimate engagement with my subjects. This method heightens attention to physicality, emotion, and the social forces shaping identity. By foregrounding queer, working-class, and subcultural figures, my art challenges norms of gender, beauty, and social worth. Through layered transparency, detail, and symbolism, I explore vulnerability as resistance. Ultimately, my work invites dialogue on exclusion, representation, and the power of art as a space for agency and recognition.”
