Beyond Reflection

by Jill Sutherland

“The spring reminds me of the cycles. The new blooms recall the time of your passing— a ring of flowers around your skull. In the beauty of you, I weep for the sacred moments that crack me open. Through grief, my heart was split. Hold me in your embrace. Comfort me in the darkness. Only then can I truly see the light. I am consoled by nature, from flower to seed, from seed to bloom.”
