The Myth of ‘Letting Go’

This painting holds testimony to the futility of letting go when encountering the cadence of chronic illnesses. The sunny glow lingers as a veneer of vitality, veiling the fissures beneath. The growing black verticals stand as temporal bars, echoing the slow sedimentation of suffering. The composition communicates the fragility of healing as release. Any sense of release dissolves when existence unfolds as a series of symptoms. Here, time is not a healer but a witness to the blurring boundaries between body and burden. Through this work, the artist challenges dominant narratives that soften and simplify physical suffering. She summons the language of embodied experience to honour the weight of that which repeatedly remains.
