Schoodic
by Charlie Newton
“My role is not to explain or justify my work, but to create pieces that communicate on a deeper, more intuitive level. My artistic intent is to capture memories and moments that have the power to transport you - to evoke specific feelings and sensations within the viewer through the language of color, texture, and composition. My painting process is an organic, ever-evolving journey of ‘becoming.’ The act of creation is a constant state of discovery, where I allow my subconscious and the materials to guide the direction. I'm not interested in dictating meaning or handing out interpretations. I want my canvases to be the visual embodiment of my creative voice, inviting the viewer to engage with the work and draw their own connections. As Stieglitz suggests, you will have to "sense it in the end through your own experience" in order to truly understand the essence of what an artist has to communicate. Ultimately, my paintings are my artist's statement. I hope that when you engage with my work, you'll allow yourself to get lost in the experience, to discover the underlying resonance through your own lived perspective. That, to me, is the true purpose of my art.”
