Pressured

“As a painter, I have always been drawn to experimenting with different techniques and materials. My recent work takes this further by painting directly onto shapes and symbols that carry meaning of their own. Pressured is a response to the expectations placed on me as a Gen Z only child in an Asian household in Bangkok, where art is rarely valued alongside science or mathematics. Much of my practice explores the intimate and often conflicted relationship we have with social media, the pull between comfort and self-sabotage under constant pressure. This piece poses open-ended questions about our ability to separate expectation from reality. I paint on wooden sculptures with added functional elements, where the shapes and symbols of each object directly correspond to the feelings and thoughts I aim to convey.”
