Mediterranean Terrace in the Sun
by Jennifer Peters
“With this work I really wanted to depict the hope and energy of what a new day could hold. This painting explores a quiet moment of pause and inward reflection set within an idealized landscape. The solitary figure, viewed from behind, stands at the edge of a terrace overlooking still water and distant hills. By turning the subject away from the viewer, I invite a sense of anonymity—she becomes less an individual and more a vessel for contemplation, memory, and longing. Light and color play a central role in shaping the mood. The cool blues of the water and sky are balanced by warm stone and greenery, creating a harmonious space that feels both real and dreamlike. The scene is not meant to depict a specific place, but rather a state of mind—one of stillness, escape, and quiet anticipation. Ultimately, this work reflects my interest in moments that exist between action and thought, where nothing outwardly happens, yet everything feels possible.”
