Love

by Valeri (Toto) Miqava

“My artistic practice is centered on the development of a personal visual language as an expression of individual perception. Working primarily through abstraction, I explore how form, material, and intuition can function independently of narrative and established symbolism. Influenced by spiritual traditions, material experimentation, and decades of sustained practice, my work resists standardized visual systems and stylistic conformity. Each painting evolves intuitively, allowing inner states, memory, and sensation to shape the image rather than predetermined concepts. In this way, the act of painting becomes an assertion of individualism- an open process that values uncertainty, transformation, and personal truth. I work with encaustic, oil, tempera, and mixed media, treating material as an active presence. Surfaces are layered, disrupted and rebuilt, reflecting the tension between structure and fluidity, permanence and change. Rather than offering fixed meanings, my works invite the viewer into a direct encounter, where perception itself becomes part of the artwork. The search for individualism and the development of my own visual language have always been my primary artistic goal.”
