Let Your Light Shine

by Jennifer Gile

Everything in this series started with a spark of wonder. This wonder led me to an entirely new way of approaching photography. Piqued by curiosity and driven by a passion for the art form, this combination of feelings progressed into a desire to see where this light streak photography would lead - and where curiosity goes, my heart inevitably follows. By starting small and choosing to simply recreate this concept, the basic foundations for light streak photography eventually advanced into applying different types of motion to the process - some that you’ll witness here are freehand motion, axis rotation, and zooming. Like many art projects across different mediums, Motion Commotion is a series that is all about trusting the process. While some types of movement are able to create distinct effects and add depth, the final product is impossible to control. Despite the uncontrolled outcome, each image is unique and harbors a different rhythm of energy.
