Leaves of Change

“This acrylic on canvas painting portrays myself cutting pieces of newspaper to craft a vine of leaves, with a collage reading “small action, big impact.” This painting aims to emphasize the idea that we must actively consume knowledge and be aware of global events to understand how to take initiative. Having access to social media and constant sources of news, we regularly hear discouraging stories or alarming statistics about environmental issues. At the same time, we hear stories of incredible advocates who drive change, or of new, groundbreaking technologies. Sometimes, this can feel discouraging, but we must instead feel motivated by these feelings, as change comes from any action, no matter how small.”
