Head in the Clouds

by Kara Beth Rasure

“I combine craft based making and digital practice to build sculptural objects and kinetic works. I move between woodworking, hand finishing, and careful fabrication and digitally produced components and materials. My sculptures borrow the language of tools, machines, toys, and functional devices. They are designed to feel approachable, then slowly tip into unease. I use play and precision as an entry point, and I am interested in the moment when an object begins to feel less like a toy and more like a thing with its own intentions.”
