Foggy Morning

by Andreas Starke

“I’ve always dreamed of capturing that perfect moment—early in the morning, just as the sun begins to rise and a soft fog lingers across the landscape. There’s something so peaceful and almost otherworldly about that time of day. The world feels hushed, like it's holding its breath. The light is gentle, golden, and diffused by the mist, and everything around you seems to slow down. It’s a moment that feels both intimate and vast, where time stands still, and you get to witness nature waking up. For years, I imagined what it would feel like to photograph that scene. I pictured standing alone in the quiet, camera in hand, watching the first light of day break through the fog. It became one of those dreams that stayed with me—simple but meaningful, a moment I wanted to experience not just with my eyes but with my whole being. Last year, I finally had the chance to fulfill that dream. I found myself in the right place at the right time. The air was cool and damp, the fog wrapped gently around the hills, and the horizon began to glow with the first hints of sunrise. I could feel the anticipation building as the light slowly shifted, coloring the sky with soft pinks and golds. Then, just as I’d always imagined, the sun rose—casting long shadows, illuminating the mist, and turning the entire scene into something almost surreal.”
