Dame Maxwell Scott and her sister in the Orangerie

by Lilianne Milgrom

“This painting is a homage to an era gone by — a gentler world of orchard visits, wide-brimmed hats, and unhurried afternoons. I was drawn to these delightful subjects for their quiet joy and dignity. I wanted to juxtapose the formal scene with a contemporary color palette — vibrant pinks, glowing oranges, animated pattern — in order to draw a modern audience into this vanished world.”
