Artistic Fabrication

by Patricia S Patrick

“I create vibrant, abstract collages on canvas using bold color and layered materials — acrylics, watercolor, ink, textiles, specialty papers, cardboard, and found objects. Colors move across the surface to guide the viewer through a landscape of shape, shades and sometimes a little chaos surrounded by form, or is it form surrounded by chaos? My work guides the eye across dynamic layers of form and feeling. Each piece is a tactile journey inviting the viewer to explore texture and movement, blending my intuition and transformation to challenge the viewer’s imagination. I want to have a visual dialogue with you, the observer, so that you do not just see, but experience. To answer, “what do you see?” Part of my inspiration is taking photographs of the world around me. I am fascinated by tree trunks, old bricks, tree branches, peeling paint, and just ordinary objects that go unnoticed These materials inspire with their shapes, colors, and patterns as well as the randomness that invites the eye to wonder — and wander. I am also inspired by accomplished artists such as Robert Rauschenberg, Jackson Pollack, Anselm Kiefer and Gustav Klimt.”
