You Never Think the Last Time is the Last Time
by Jahna Kahrhoff
“Inspired by quilting's rich heritage, I celebrate the organic creative process. I find inspiration in colors, patterns, and textiles. Each quilt is a unique expression, reflecting the ever-changing world. I gather fabrics, buttons, and beads from antique malls, thrift shops, and flea markets. These elements, each with its own history, become the building blocks of my work. I spread them on my work table, intuitively moving them until a harmonious composition emerges. Once a design takes shape, I employ traditional quilting techniques of piecing together patterns. These time-honored techniques provide a solid foundation for my work, allowing me to explore both traditional and contemporary aesthetics. I further enhance the visual impact of my quilts through embellishment. By adding beads, buttons, and other decorative elements, I create layers of texture and depth. Each final quilt is a unique expression of my artistic vision, a tangible manifestation of my thoughts and feelings.”
