The Yellow One on the Corner
by Austin Jenkins
“My work as a film photographer is based on the tactile and temporal aspects of creating analog images. I'm drawn to the silent remnants of Americana and underappreciated facets of daily events on the streets. I capture images that try to resemble distant memories in our minds in the hopes of bringing everyday abandoned places back to life. The duality of the locations I capture and the analog medium I use to do it allows me to show beauty where the average eye would not see it. A good photograph to me is one where the viewer cannot ascertain the exact year it was taken, I want my photographs to have a sense of both nostalgia and modernity.”
