River Walk-5
by Al Kelman
“It’s not what we see, but how we see it. Most of my photographs evolve from something that catches my eye. It almost always starts with patterns of color and light. I am a colorist at heart. I am especially drawn to reflections, particularly in the context of water in all its forms. I live in Center City Philadelphia and I have been drawn to the serenity and simultaneously the burst of color that can be found along the banks of the Schuylkill River as night sets in. I have been walking on the path along the river for many years now and I have been able to observe the dynamism that has come with the development of a once secluded area. The colors and patterns that can be found there in the evening are more compelling than ever, and can be hypnotic. This path is heavily utilized and photographed at all hours of the day and night.”
