Puzzle of History; Bottles
by Jiashun Zhou
“My weaving redefines memory spaces, moving beyond visual interpretations of lived environments to focus on their emotional and sensory imprints. Memory exists in parallel to reality, shaped more by sensations than sight—smells, distances, and physical interactions contribute as much as images. I see weaving as a diary, a quiet dialogue where emotions and memories take form. Each piece becomes a letter exchanged between myself and the fabric. Encounters and separations with loved ones are like interwoven wefts, forming an unseen tapestry of connection. Rather than recreating spaces, my work distorts objective reality to capture the emotions they once evoked. Colors express my feelings, and each palette reflects my personality. Inspired by cities I’ve traveled to, homes I’ve lived in, and fleeting moments of nature, my woven and printed works become an evolving archive—where memories, even as they fade, remain forever woven into the fabric of my art.”
