Peeking to the Reflection of Bear Lake, NC
by Natalia Adamson
“As a contemporary colorist and landscape painter, I am driven by a passion for reimagining the natural world through vivid, transformative palettes. My artistic philosophy centers on the belief that color is an emotional language—a way to bridge the gap between the physical and the ephemeral. Inspired by Fauvism and influenced by the works of Van Gogh, my paintings seek to evoke the energy and emotion of a moment rather than a literal depiction. Through vibrant, altered colors and layered textures, I aim to create landscapes that feel alive and illuminated, much like stained glass catching and refracting the light. My process begins in nature, where I gather inspiration from light, atmosphere, and the interplay of colors in the environment. Painting en plein air allows me to immerse myself in the scene and respond instinctively to shifting moods. By layering India ink and oil paint, I create a stained-glass effect that illuminates the landscape in new and unexpected ways.”
