Path No. 2

by David Ort

“I’m an interdisciplinary artist practicing with a traditional mark making at the intersection of historical and contemporary creative technologies. I’m currently exploring themes of micro-expressions, remembrance, and mystery - through drawing, painting, and printmaking. The series titled "Why when I’m talking about you I’m talking about everything" are monochromatic paintings, and intaglio prints that draw from my research in critical studies and phenomenology, specifically Roland Barthes "Camera Lucia" and "The Poetics of Space" by Gaston Bachelard. Each work - depictions of places; nature, fountains, and paths - are invitations to our primordial memory of the tree and the mysteries of the cycles of life.”
