Green and Blue Rose
by Elliot Rose DeCaro
Elliot Rose DeCaro is an artist based in Nazareth, PA. His work explores identity through the abstraction of human form, dissecting the interplay between flesh, self, and society - a focus of his BFA honors thesis, Identity In Society, at Moravian University. Through anatomical distortion, he traces the boundaries between flesh and identity, searching for the essence of humanity. Welcoming the opportunity to stimulate new ways of seeing, he often embraces mediums such as photography, alternative processes, printmaking, and sculpture, though he is first and foremost a painter. Captivated by the intricacies of individuality, he creates ambiguous compositions that challenge rigid societal ideals - advocating for a deeper understanding of identity. DeCaro’s work has been featured in exhibitions at Payne Gallery and The Alternative Gallery, persuading viewers to engage with his belief that art can subvert preconceived notions of the body as a fixed entity.
