Gandergan
by Thomas McCue
“I have vision impairment resulting in low vision. My color perception and visual acuity often yield unpredictable results, requiring multiple returns to pieces as my perception shifts, and so my process is a continuous reexamination of the work through close viewing, photographic documentation and close inspection, and a more conventional distance viewing and working. This is all in the context of an expressive, gestural process in which subject and content are emergent through progressive layers of media and mark making. Myth and otherworldly visions coexist with a fascination with biology and nature in a personal symbology that informs the imagery that emerges as I express my experience and relationship with the world.”
