Future Ruins AD Column 5
by Jimmie White
Jimmie White is a conceptually driven artist whose work is guided by the demands of each idea. Her practice is rooted in experimentation, material truth, and the belief that process can be as revealing as the final form. Working across fresco, ceramics, and architectural fragments, White is drawn to materials that hold memory, resist control, or break down over time. Her work explores the intersections of politics, religion, and cultural mythology. Through sculptural form, surface erosion, and visual symbolism, White examines how dominant narratives are constructed, fractured, and absorbed into everyday life. These investigations are informed by both personal experience and collective history, drawing on sources ranging from myth and theology to propaganda and lived environments. White is particularly interested in the ways power becomes embedded in material culture—how objects can serve as both evidence and metaphor.
